Recently I had a rather unexpected little adventure.
As someone once said, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” A gentleman I had never met before invited me to join him on a two-day trip to Rome. At first, I wasn’t completely sure, because normally I prefer to meet someone at least once before deciding to spend several days together. It simply feels more comfortable when you already have a sense of the person and the chemistry between you.
Another detail initially made me pause, as he was below the age range I usually choose here. But from the very beginning his communication was thoughtful, respectful and very pleasant. Sometimes you can already sense from the way someone expresses themselves that there is calm confidence and a certain maturity behind it,and that made me curious.
He respected every detail we agreed on, and before I knew it, I was on my way to Rome. It turned out to be such an easy and enjoyable experience – good conversation, a relaxed atmosphere and the perfect balance between shared time and moments for myself to explore the city. Walking through the beautiful streets, enjoying small cafés and simply letting the day unfold it felt light and uncomplicated. After all, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” ,embracing the atmosphere, the charm and the pleasure of living in the moment.
It reminded me that sometimes the nicest memories come from moments that are not overly planned, just enjoying good company, a change of scenery and a little bit of spontaneity. Because in the end, “Collect moments, not things.”
A lovely little adventure that left me smiling… and made me appreciate how important intuition can be when meeting someone new. Sometimes the most beautiful experiences begin with a simple “why not?”And always trusting your instincts. Was nice while it lasted.
