December in Berlin

December has firmly arrived, and what a time to be in Berlin. The Weihnachtsmärkts are bustling with sweet aromas of Glühwein and gingerbread, the Christmas lights are twinkling, and while we’re still waiting

for the first snowflake, there’s a lovely crispness in the air that makes everything feel a little more magical

If you’re planning a trip to Berlin, you’re in for a treat—and not just because of me. The city comes alive this time of year, offering delights for every sense. Among the many indulgences Berlin has to offer, its culinary scene stands out as truly extraordinary. Here are some of my favourite spots to wine and dine:

136: A delightful fusion of Peruvian and Italian flavours, served in a setting that feels like stepping into a vintage postcard. Every dish is a masterpiece, and the ambiance whispers charm and intimacy—ideal for a dinner date.

Rutz: Boasting an impressive three Michelin stars, Marco Müller’s "Inspiration" tasting menu is nothing short of artistry on a plate. Prepare for a culinary journey that engages all your senses.

tulus lotrek: A cozy haven with high ceilings, tulus lotrek’s seven-course modern tasting menu is like a warm embrace. The dishes are creative yet comforting, and the service impeccable—a true gem.

Tim Raue: Bold, Asian-European fusion dishes that redefine what it means to be blown away by flavour. Tim Raue never fails to impress, offering an experience that is as daring as it is delicious.

Each of these restaurants makes for a wonderful dinner date location—and not just because I’m partial to a little decadence myself. There’s something about sharing exquisite food in an exquisite setting that heightens every other sense, and builds anticipation for what’s to come, don’t you think?

Christmas in Berlin is something special. The city sparkles with festive energy: ice skating rinks pop up in unexpected places, brass bands play carols on street corners, and the smell of roasted chestnuts seems to follow you wherever you go. The cold weather makes it impossible not to want to cozy up to someone special—or to lounge by the fireplaces of Vabali, a favorite indulgence of mine this time of year (as if I needed another excuse).

On a more personal note: I have a spot spot for December as December is my month. My birthday month. It’s a time when the year folds in on itself, and I find myself pausing to reflect. On December 15th, I’ll be turning 30-[redacted]. I’ll share the exact number with you when we meet. Let’s just say I’m old and wise enough to know better, but still and rambunctious enough to get into mischief.

Wherever this newsletter finds you, I hope you’re surrounded by your own small wonders: warm hands to hold, good food to savour, and the thrill of something unexpected. May your daysbe merry, your nights full of wonder, and your heart a little fuller as we inch closer to the holidays.

I won't disappoint you, I was in Berlin, and my experience was more than disgusting. The City is mostly dirty, the weather is mostly bad and rainy. Believe me or not, I was happy to leave Berlin, I stayed in the "West in Great" near the Brandenburg Gate, one of the best Hotels in Berlin. The People are for sure not kind, more grumpy. I've visited Munich and Hamburg, Cologne and KIEL, Bremen and many more. But Berlin? Never again. Wish you a happy Christmas time and a happy new year.
